On Monday 13th August, USCIS has asked employers to continue using the existing version of Form I-9 even though it has an expiration date on Aug 31st of this year. “This form should continue to be used even after the OMB control number expiration date of August 31, 2012 has passed. USCIS will provide updated information about the new version of the Form I-9 as it becomes available.” Are the instructions given by USCIS.

Form I-9, also known as the employment eligibility verification, is one of the crucial verifications required to be conducted before considering an individual for employment. This is an essential requirement to ensure that the person is eligible to legally work in the USA. So, every employee hired after Nov 6, 1986 must complete and submit the I-9 Form at the time of being hired.
